Travelling by boat is one way to get around Nicaragua
The Río San Juan is another area that is only accessible by boat. Collective water taxis leave several times a day from San Carlos to El Castillo, about 1.5 hours away. Traveling the length of the river, to Greytown, takes several days through the jungle.
Private boats can also be hired on the river, but they are expensive due to high gas prices. |
